After the launch of the iPhone 16 series, the rumours have started churning up about the iPhone SE 4. This toned down series from the Apple-verse gained popularity for its affordability. The iPhone SE 4, which is expected to come in 2025, is expected to witness the same fame. More so, as the speculations indicate that the upcoming SE model will bring iPhone 14-like looks and features. Not just that, as per the latest leak, the iPhone SE 4 might be the first phone to feature Apple’s own 5G modem.
Apple has been trying to get its own modem for quite some time. Now, as reported by 9to5Mac, the iPhone SE 4 will finally be fulfilling the dreams of the company. In 2019, Apple acquired Intel’s modem division with the goal of eliminating its reliance on Qualcomm modems. However, various reports indicate that Apple’s prototype modems have encountered multiple technical issues and setbacks.
Apple will definitely gain financial benefits from developing its own modem, but it also plans to use the technology to enhance hardware-software integration. According to 9to5Mac, the new modem will significantly lower battery usage, particularly when iPhone users activate Low Power Mode. If the iPhone SE 4, which will most probably be the first one to carry Apple’s 5G modem, is a success, then the next-in-line iPhones will also follow the same.
The major upgrade, after Apple’s 5G modem, is expected to be a design revamp. The current iPhone SE follows the looks of iPhone 8, but the iPhone SE 4 might change this. The upcoming Apple device is speculated to look like the iPhone 14, with minimal bezels. It will probably retain a notch similar to the iPhone 14. According to MacRumors, the iPhone SE will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, an upgrade from the current SE’s 4.7-inch LCD. The OLED will provide better contrast and deeper blacks, bringing the SE closer to Apple’s modern devices. Additionally, the larger screen size is expected to match the dimensions of the iPhone 14.
The iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to receive a major upgrade with a 48-megapixel primary rear camera, a significant improvement from the 12-megapixel camera in previous SE models. Additionally, reports suggest that Apple may introduce computational photography features to enhance image quality. These software enhancements, combined with the higher-resolution sensor, could make the SE 4’s camera well-suited for most everyday photography needs.
The upcoming Apple device is also expected to incorporate the iPhone 14’s battery, offering substantial improvements in battery life compared to previous SE models. This larger capacity will support the OLED display and A18 chip, allowing the SE to last through a full day of use.
